Stray Cat Becomes the Inspiration for a Touching Children’s Story

without comments

Inspired by a stray cat that showed up on his doorstep, A.J. Fontaine’s book, “A Kitty and His Dream,” is the touching story of the antics of a stray cat named Outside Kitty. Nicknamed “O.K.,” he is an adorable cat who dreams of living the good life with a loving family.

“And he doesn’t just wait for a family to find him, so he tries to find them!” Fontaine said. “This sets off a heart-warming chain of events that are challenging, exciting and cute.”

The children’s book, which is available through, contains a marvelous story of making your dreams come true that the whole family will enjoy reading. The tale even touches on life in an animal shelter, and the responsibility of pet ownership. The engaging pictures by J.G. Graphics and Designs capture the cat’s expressions, and will keep even the youngest cat lovers involved.

Readers are encouraged to donate as well.

Help Homeless Pets Get the Homes they Deserve

without comments

When Outside Kitty first found us, we contacted the Humane Society of Douglas County, as well as putting him on Craigslist. The Humane Society immediately offered to take him in and “Keep him warm and safe.” Not wanting to see him put in a cage, we opted to keep him around our house in hopes someone would claim him, or offer him a home.

After several months, and several hundred dollars spent heating the garage for him, we contacted the Humane Society again. They offered to take him in again, and help find him a home. The kindness of everyone at the Humane Society was overwhelming. The animals that are put in their care are very lucky. And these people are there to help on a daily basis. Now they need your help.

The Humane Society of Douglas County serves over 300 animals, like Outside Kitty, each year. All of them need some care, and all need new homes. They rely completely on license fees, adoption fees and donations for their operating expenses.

It’s up to you to help those who can’t help themselves.

Donate today. Please send all donations directly to the Humane Society of Douglas County.

Thank you!

P.S. Tell them O.K. sent you!
